Vintage brick mould with rusty cup handle
£24.50

Crafted from solid wood and reinforced with original metal bracing, brick moulds were built to withstand heavy, repeated use. They were typically handmade and used in small-scale or manual brick kilns before more mechanised methods became widespread.

The hardwood has aged naturally, with a lovely patina and visible marks from its working past. The metal bracing around the corners adds strength and remains securely in place.

No two moulds are exactly alike - each one varies in grain, tone, and level of wear.

Many of the moulds in circulation today were used between the 1930s and 1970s, though some may be older and exhibit signs of age, such as rust, surface cracks, or uneven colouring. These are not flaws but part of the mould’s authentic, well-used character.

A sturdy, functional piece with a story behind it - ready to start a new chapter in your home.

Style it with bundles of dried lavender and old letters tied with ribbon.

Vintage & Antique

Antique rustic laundry paddle
Sale Price: £20.00 Original Price: £28.00

Antique French Laundry Paddle (Circa early 1900s)

This old wooden laundry paddle likely dates to the early 1900s, a time when tools like this were commonly used in rural France for manual clothes washing. Clothes would be soaked in water - often in a washtub or at a communal washhouse (lavoir) - then beaten or agitated with a paddle to loosen dirt and stains before being rinsed.

Pair of antique hinged wooden shoe lasts
Sale Price: £35.00 Original Price: £40.00

A matched pair of circa 19th-century hinged shoemaker’s lasts, fashioned in finely grained beech wood with an amber-toned surface showing characteristic signs of long use.

Each last comprises a solid forepart and a hinged heel section joined by an iron plate fixed with four flat-head screws. A swivelling metal loop passes through apertures on either side of the heel and serves as a locking mechanism for the hinge, enabling the heel portion to open for the removal of a finished shoe.

The precision of the hinge and loop design identifies these as professional workshop tools, rather than display pieces, typical of lasts produced in the major British shoemaking centres of Northamptonshire and Manchester. Their practical use in London cobbler’s shops during the Edwardian period is highly probable.

Significance:
These shoe lasts exemplify the transitional phase of early industrial shoemaking in Britain, retaining hand-crafted joinery while incorporating mechanical convenience through the loop-and-hinge mechanism. They reflect the professional standards of English bespoke footwear production in the decades preceding mass mechanisation.
